Build-Up Play

What it is

Passes that advance the ball at least 10 metres toward the opponent's goal. Measures the team's verticality. >80/game = Very vertical | 50-80 = Normal | <50 = Slow/patient.

Formula

Progressive Pass = pass that reduces the distance to the opponent's goal by ≥10m

Real Example

Manchester City: 95 progressive passes/game → Maximum verticality and chance creation.

When to Use

Teams with high progressive passes create more chances near goal; useful for predicting Over in goals markets.
